"This is it."

This post from the latest blog banter by Troy Wexler at the High Sec Carebearing Extravaganza blog stuck out for me, especially his closing paragraph that I'm going to include here:
So to answer the Blog Banter question, "What's on the other side of that plateau?", this is it. We are on the other side of the plateau. We as a playerbase have chased off any decent human being that wants to play. We have distilled ourselves down into everything that is wrong with humanity and convinced ourselves that it is all some kind of elaborate inside joke. We are what is wrong with the game, and the worst part of it is that we hold CCP hostage. Every time they try to expand the game or draw in new players, we create a scandal to sabotage their efforts. I hope CCP can find a way to get away from depending on EVE as their main source of revenue, because that's the only way EVE will ever get better and grow.
I 100% agree that we are our own worst enemies for this game expanding beyond its current status. For every helpful EVE University, there are a hundred high sec war deccing corps preying on newbie mining or missioning corporations and killing them for fun and little profit. For every Angel project, there are a hundred scammers. For every Aideron Robotics corporation that helps new players get on their feet and into PvP in low sec, there are a hundred corp awoxers.

And any attempt to give the new players, those most vulnerable to the depredations of veterans, any semblance of reasonable protection is met with howls and outrage.

It would be funny if it wasn't the first ring of the bell sounding the eventual death knell of EVE Online.

Anyway, go read his whole post.

Send Cheque To... Part II

From today's next expansion announcement (named Rubicon):

What I wrote back in January:

Forget POSes, Make POPs
[...]
My proposal is to leave POSes alone as they are for now and instead develop something new for the sandbox: Player Owned Platforms
[...]
These platforms would allow players to setup bases away from stations in potentially hostile territory without the massive overhead that even a small POS incurs. They would be far more accessible to newer players (and we know that perks your ears right up, eh CCP?) while giving new content to old players to try out.
No need to thank me. ;)

Plug for Iron Man Mode Blog

I received and email from Zeke Iddon of the Iron Man Mode blog:

Secondly, I wanted to raise awareness to a fun charity drive I've recently launched. Iron Man Mode is a comedy gaming blog in which a bunch of us blog about playing stuff like Minecraft, Syndicate, EVE etc. with only one life - once we're dead, the blog and game is over completely. It's more for fun than anything, but we're also using it to raise money for the Child's Play Charity; details here:

www.ironmanmode.com/donate

If you are willing and able to donate even $1, superb! There's a lot in it for those who do. If not, no wozzas - even if you were to simply share the love on ninveah.com or anywhere else, that would also be great. Otherwise, just have a read and enjoy.

In return for any support you can give, just let me know if you'd like a shout out to Inner Sanctum of the Ninveah on the blog (or any of the social media jazz).

Thanks again Kirith. Take it easy in the mean time, and keep up the great work.

Yours in Awesomeness,
Zeke Iddon
There ya go, Zeke!

Shameless Plugging - Kadavr Black Guard, Eve Tribune, Tech 4 News

Kadavr Black Guard is recruiting! We're hanging out in Sinq Laison with the Shadow Cartel and want more pilots to give us more options for roams and picking fights.

KBG recruitmemt info

OK listen up grunts, we still have a few limited places available for the right people.
If your attitude sucks, if you act like a hormonal teenager, then don't bother applying even if you have a "elite" killboard, you won't get in.
We're not interested in Drama llama's.
There is a few specifics you will need to have, or be close to flying:
1 racial T2 cruiser hull, with full T2 weapons/modules and Tank. ie HAC/Recon/Logi
1 racial T2 frigate T2 Weapons/modules where required.
Battlecruiser trained to 4 minimum, with approriate fittings.
This means you will have a bare minimum of 10m skillpoints, and in the right areas.
We fly the following gangs, you will be expected to be able to have fitted and be able to fly something suitable from your hanger.
Frigate wolf pack
Shield Battlecruiser
Shield Nano Battlecruiser
Tier 3 Battlecruiser Alpha
Battleship, Dread / Carrier fleets - we do these, occasionaly.
Corp ops are non mandatory, however if you don't want to fly with a gang, why join a corp?
Combat experience is preferable, as is a positive kill / death ratio, however for the right people that are willing to listen, we can break your bad habit of dying and make you into a solid combat pilot.
We have solid logistics in place, with regular freighter runs to/from Jita, and lowsec/highsec hauling.
You will also need the following:
Working Mic, and audio. We use Mumble/Vent/TS3 depending on who we are flying with.
Self sufficent isk source. We can assist by providing Alt access to lvl4 missions, and to our WH for isk.
We are mainly EU/US timezone. Background checks may apply.
Contact Anabaric, Acute Dragonis, or Nashh Kadavr in game, or Join Kadavr Public for more information.

Eve Tribune is recruiting!

Share your experience
Write for the EVE Tribune

I'm gonna keep on plugging that phrase because I like it. I almost changed it to "Share your EVEsperience, write for the EVE Tribune". And sure it's a bit funny, building on the "EVE is real" slogan and so, but it's a it over the top really.

Share your experience
Write for the EVE Tribune

For those who don't know it the EVE Tribune is the longest running EVE Online eZine. We've been around since 2005-ish and until today we've published over 200 issues with articles spanning from news and pvp guides to philosophy, with a pinch of cookery in it. An unknown number of writers have shared their EVE Online experience with thousands upon thousand of readers.

So are you a writer? Or a sharer? Would you like your words to be read by thousands of people? Send me a mail at recruiting@eve-tribune.com and tell a bit of yourself. Who are you, what's your EVE experience, and what would you like to write about.

See you at the Tribune
/Mr M

6 Years Blogging

"He's still talking? Doesn't he know that no one is listening!?"
I know I celebrated 6 years at the BMTHOKK live event in January, but today is the actual 6th Anniversary of when I started blogging on the Inner Sanctum of the Ninveah.

It started as a spot to collect my ramblings and reports but has evolved into a way for me to provide a community resource as well as an output for my fiction muscles. I'm sometimes very amazed at what I have accomplished with this little spot on the intertubes.

Here's to 6 more years!

BitterVet Lottery

Lord's Servant, a pilot that frequents my in game channel "Ninveah" (also the channel of Not A Lot of News Newshour podcasters Jason (Acinom) and Erin (Arywdd Anunununununenen or something like that)) asked me to shill his lottery where he is raffling a Nyx supercarrier BPO:
This lottery is for a Nyx (gallente mothership) Blueprint Original.

This BPO is ME 1 / PE 0

2,400 Tickets Totalling 24b Isk

Tickets Cost 10mil (10,000,000) isk each.

Isk is to be sent to Lord's Servant (the character posting) with the reason

BPO1
Note: I do not endorse nor secure this lottery, I am only passing on the info. However I have no reason to believe this is a scam and in fact I will be buying a ticket myself.

Christmas Kicking My Ass

Oh no, its one of those "sorry I'm not posting etc" posts.

Real Life due to holiday season is kicking my ass, so post today is just a place holder and the Broadcasts from the Ninveah episode for this week is in danger of being postponed to next week. I'll see how tonight goes.

In the meantime, wander over to BobFromMarketing's new blog and give it a look.

Project Halibut

Chainer Cygnus of the Eve Commune and Skill Training Complete podcasts is currently running an initiative to help new players in Eve:
Lately I have been doing a lot of thinking about EVE and it’s myriad of hurdles to get through as a new player. I look back on my first days in EVE and wonder what I was thinking with some of my fits and skill choices. I don’t regret any of them, as they were part of my learning experience. But at the same time, I had found the EVE Blogosphere and then unnamed Tweetfleet and had access to helpful individuals. There are many Capsuleers with a similar story of finding the valuable resources those entail and how they have ushered them on to success. And countless other stories of those who have prospered without any contact or knowledge of the greater EVE community.

And we also hear about people who don’t make it past the Trial or even a few days of it because they feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options available to a new pilot from the get-go. I’m sure many of those new pilots could truly benefit from discovering the this greater EVE Community as well as someone to Mentor them.

Addressing this view is the entire purpose of “Project Halibut”. My overall plan is simple, but intensive, and while I don’t expect great results, I feel I should try regardless (for personal reasons as well as the obvious betterment of the game reasoning).
I made a donation last night to help out Project Halibut as I believe that new players have the hardest time in this game and every effort should be made to make the experience less painful (until they are hostile to me, at which point the more pain the better).

Gainfully Employed For 2 Years

Today marks my second anniversary of joining m3 Corp.

It was a dicey time of my Eve career two years ago. The spring before saw a good thing in Strife Mercenaries 2.0 fall unexpectedly apart as friends went to the four corners of New Eden on their own adventures, and my play time diminished to near zero with the birth of the twins. I was alone that summer, plexing in Factional Warfare for standings and something to do, and it was not incredible fun.

As the fall rolled around I started looking to get back into a group. I wanted something with more stability and longevity this time around. I had spent a few months with m3 the winter the year before and kept tabs on them, so when I saw they were still active and recruiting I did not hesitate to contritely apply again, asking to be given a second chance. They said yes and I've never looked back.

Why is m3 Corp such a great place be? Three simple reasons:

1) Corp first. Everyone is encouraged to fly together, whether in combat or in PvE. Get on comms and shoot the breeze. The strength and health of the corporation comes before alliance demands and personal gain. We make sure our pilots get everything they need to succeed, whether it be access to ships/mods/ISK or advice and leadership.

2) If its not fun, you're doing it wrong. The corporate leadership understands that real life comes first as we all have family, jobs, responsibilities. As long as you are trying the corp wants you around even if you can't make every CTA and alliance op.

And most importantly...

3) Stable Leadership. I know the corp's directors are in for the long haul, I know their judgment is sound and mature, and I know their goals for the corp coincide with mine. There is no guessing about where the CEO or director's heads are at, there is no uncertainty about when someone with authority will be next online. There is no question that m3 Corp will be here in a month, year, etc.

I look forward to another year in m3 Corp.

Cage Match Promotion

Eve SOB over at his blog is trying to organize a frigate cage match:
My own ranting has left me considering a more positive reaction to apparent dwindling of solo PvP action. The idea in my head is simple and revolves around organizing a last pilot standing fight to the death for as many brave and/or crazy frigate pilots who choose to sign up and enter the “CAGE” system to fight.

Of course there will be an entry fee, rules, and prizes for the participants all wrapped into a semi regular event where frigate junkies can get there solo PvP on. Sure you could bring a group, but in the end only one pilot gets the gravy.
I think these types of planned events are awesome and fully support this initiative although the chances of my participation are low due to time constraints. Go over there and read the whole thing and give him some support.
